Spotify Wrapped disappointment + Holiday party calendar for LA & OC 🕺
Spotify’s annual “Wrapped” seemed to fall a bit short again this year. Their newly introduced AI-generated features and the lack of user statistics like “Top Genres” or “Top Albums” led to a lot of disappointment among users. This shift towards AI content, low effort design and refusal to pay artists more for their streams may eventually hurt the platform beyond repair. Oh, and not to mention their obsession with these whacky “genres” that are clearly made up just for the sake of engagement:
Admittedly, I still personally use Spotify the most as it has some of the best features to discover and share new artists. That being said though, this is a friendly reminder to always support artists you like by seeing them live whenever possible and buying merch from the artist directly. I’ll be sharing my 2024 AOTY list here shortly and will link as many artist pages as possible. Until then, check out the playlist I made on…you guessed it, Spotify: LISTEN HERE.

New Music Recommendations
Canadian melodic Metalcore band, Counterparts, have really out done themselves on this EP. Heaven Let Them Die is by far the heaviest release from the band without compromising an ounce of their melody or lyricism. I linked the “Listen Here” button to their Bandcamp so we could all have a giggle at how old their promo pics are on their profile….their website is also still linked to Myspace lol. FFO: Boundaries, Stick To Your Guns, Stray From The Path, Silent Planet, (old)The Ghost Inside, (old)Northlane.
