Happy 10th birthday to RAD Music!
Hey everyone!
So, ten years ago today…well technically yesterday, I started RAD Music with a few friends for the purpose of sharing new music with people. I didn’t have much of a direction for it and I’m not really sure why I decided to “launch” RAD on St Patrick's Day, but here we are. I got the idea to start Recording Artist Distribution when I grabbed a copy of the Bay Report from Thizzler on the Roof. It was just a free CD that highlighted different up and coming Bay Area rappers and I thought: “wait, why hasn’t someone done this for Fresno? And why not have every type of music on it?” Fast forward two years and RAD had released 10 music samplers (still available on Bandcamp if you're interested) for Fresno and Orange County artists.
Booking shows wasn’t even really an idea for RAD, but after the first three shows, it just snowballed until it was all that RAD was doing. I lost count a while ago, but I’ve booked hundreds of shows for RAD Music, Numbskull Productions, OCML and several other promoters and venues over the last 10 years. I’ve met an incredible amount of amazing people in those years and I seriously don’t know where I would be without them.
To celebrate those years, those friends and specifically Fresno…we’ve got an awesome weekend planned for the first weekend of May 2024 with Sounds Heavy and Sounds Rad. Check it out below:
-MAY 3RD-
SOUNDS HEAVY is to focus on exactly what you think…the heavy sounds of metal and hardcore that I’ve enjoyed bringing through the Central Valley. Some of these bands have been there since the beginning for me while others have members who have been an influence for me well before I ever decided to book a show. And of course it wouldn’t be a RAD show if we didn’t have some new faces. Check out some of the bands on our Spotify playlist: LISTEN HERE
-MAY 4TH-
The lineup for SOUNDS RAD was curated in a way to highlight the wide range of artists I’ve had the privilege of working with over the years. I’ve been lucky enough to travel with some of these artists and book tours for some of them. And again, this wouldn’t be any fun without working with some artists for the first time. Sounds Rad even features my lovely wife-to-be as a vendor(YULI Pottery, go buy her pots) and my favorite Fresno taco spot, Maria’s Tacos. Snag your tickets to the fest at the link below and check out all the artists on our Spotify playlist: LISTEN HERE
